Historical Background
The coach design originated with the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) during the interwar period. These robust, steel-bodied passenger carriages, commonly associated with the Donnerbüchse family, were designed for practical passenger transport on local and regional railway services.
Following the Second World War, a number of these coaches remained in service outside Germany, including with the Polish State Railways (PKP). Some former mixed-class coaches were reclassified to provide second-class accommodation, continuing to serve passengers on local and regional routes. Their open end platforms were a distinctive feature of this traditional design. This ROCO model represents a PKP second-class coach during Era IV, making it a suitable addition to historical Polish passenger train formations.
