Traxxas RC Vehicles — Buying Guide
Traxxas is the world's number one selling name in Ready-To-Race® RC vehicles — an American brand renowned for producing high-performance electric RC cars, trucks, and buggies that are genuinely fast, durable, and easy to run. The Traxxas philosophy is simple: maximum fun with minimum fuss. All Traxxas vehicles come fully assembled, ready to run, and backed by the best spare parts support in the industry. Access Models is a UK Traxxas stockist.
Key Traxxas Models
Traxxas Slash: The world's most popular RC short-course truck — fast, durable, and fun on virtually any surface. Available in 1:10 and 1:8 scale, 2WD and 4WD. Traxxas Rustler: A classic RC stadium truck, available as an affordable 2WD or high-performance 4WD. Traxxas Maxx: A 4WD monster truck with massive 1:8 scale, capable of 80+ km/h. Traxxas TRX-4: A scale crawler for technical off-road driving — detailed body shells, locking differentials, and realistic performance on rocks and trails.
Traxxas Power Systems
All Traxxas vehicles use Traxxas ID technology — their batteries and chargers communicate electronically, making charging safe and simple. The ID system prevents incorrect battery usage. Traxxas LiPo batteries provide excellent performance and capacity, and Traxxas chargers balance the cells automatically.
Upgrades and Spare Parts
Traxxas is unmatched for spare parts availability — virtually every component of every model is available as a spare part, and the Traxxas parts system is logical and well-documented. This longevity makes Traxxas a worthwhile investment. Browse the rest of our RC range for complementary vehicles and accessories.
Traxxas FAQs
- Is Traxxas good for beginners?
- Yes — all Traxxas vehicles are Ready-To-Run (RTR) and require minimal setup. They're also very durable. However, some Traxxas models (particularly the Maxx and XO-1) are very powerful and fast, so beginners should consider starting with the Slash 2WD or Rustler 2WD which are more manageable at learning speeds.
- Do Traxxas vehicles need a battery and charger?
- Most Traxxas RTR vehicles include a battery and charger, but check the specific listing. All Traxxas vehicles use the Traxxas ID battery system — always use Traxxas ID batteries to ensure compatibility and safe charging. Mixing third-party batteries may void the warranty and cause charger errors.
- What's the difference between Traxxas Slash 2WD and 4WD?
- The Slash 2WD is lighter, simpler, and generally easier to control — great for beginners and bashing on dirt tracks. The Slash 4WD has four-wheel drive for superior traction on loose surfaces and is more capable in technical terrain. The 4WD is heavier but more capable; the 2WD is more nimble and easier to slide.
- How fast is a Traxxas Maxx?
- The Traxxas Maxx 4S achieves approximately 80 km/h in standard configuration, and up to 105 km/h with an 8S power system (wide-maxx variants). This makes it genuinely fast and not suitable for areas with pedestrians or traffic. Always run RC vehicles in open, safe areas.
- Are Traxxas spare parts easy to find?
- Traxxas has the best spare parts support in the RC industry — virtually every component of every model is available as a labelled spare part, and the part numbering system is logical. Contact us if you need specific Traxxas parts not shown on our site.
