Historical Background
The Ci-28 passenger coaches were developed for the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) during the interwar period. These robust, steel-bodied carriages formed part of the family commonly known as Donnerbüchsen, which were designed for practical passenger transport on local and regional railway services.
Following the Second World War, some of these coaches continued in service outside Germany, including with the Czechoslovak State Railways (CSD). Third-class coaches provided basic seating accommodation on local routes and secondary lines, connecting communities across Czechoslovakia. Their open end platforms were a distinctive feature of this traditional coach design. This ROCO model represents a CSD third-class carriage during Era III and features a different running number from model 6280075, allowing modellers to create varied and historically inspired passenger train formations.
