Historical Background
The Y/B-70 passenger coaches were developed in East Germany by Waggonbau Bautzen for passenger services across Central and Eastern Europe. Designed to a standardised profile, these coaches provided practical compartment accommodation for domestic journeys and international express trains, becoming a familiar sight on railway networks throughout the region.
Following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, Ceské dráhy (CD) continued operating a varied fleet of passenger coaches inherited from the former Czechoslovak State Railways. Second-class Y/B-70 coaches provided seating for everyday passenger services as well as longer-distance journeys connecting Czech cities with neighbouring countries. This ROCO model represents a CD second-class coach from Era V, offering an authentic option for recreating classic Czech passenger formations on a TT scale layout.
