Historical Background
The Y/B-70 passenger coaches were developed in East Germany by Waggonbau Bautzen for use on domestic and international passenger services across Central and Eastern Europe. Designed around a standardised European coach profile, these carriages provided practical and comfortable accommodation for long-distance journeys, becoming a familiar sight on express trains throughout the region.
Following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, Ceské dráhy (CD) inherited a fleet of passenger coaches for domestic and international operations. Second-class compartment coaches such as the B-type carriage provided the main seating capacity on many passenger services, connecting towns and cities throughout the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries. This ROCO model recreates a CD second-class coach from Era V, making it suitable for authentic Czech passenger train formations and cross-border European railway layouts.
