Spray Primers for Scale Models

A good spray primer is the foundation of a quality model finish. Applied correctly over bare plastic, resin, or metal, primer gives paint something to grip — dramatically improving adhesion and revealing surface imperfections before you commit to your base coats. Skipping the primer step is the most common beginner mistake in scale modelling.

Grey primer is the all-purpose choice — neutral enough to work under any colour scheme and ideal for revealing scratches, seams, and surface flaws that need fixing before painting. White primer is the base for bright or translucent colour schemes and is essential under Citadel Contrast paints. Black primer is perfect for dark schemes, armour, and as a pre-shading base for modellers using zenithal lighting techniques.
