    Description

Immerse yourself in the history of aviation with our ICM 1/48 B-26B Marauder, WWII American Bomber 48320 kit. This American twin-engine medium bomber, crafted by the renowned Glenn L. Martin Company, traces its origins back to 1939 when it was designed to meet the high-speed medium bomber requirements of the US Army Air Corps. Originally designated as Model 179, the B-26 Marauder embarked on its journey without the customary prototype stage, signaling its innovative and forward-thinking design.

Taking to the skies for the first time on November 25, 1940, the B-26 quickly earned its place in the annals of aviation history, officially joining the ranks of US aviation in February 1941. Sporting a high-wing configuration, spacious fuselage, and crew capacity ranging from five to seven members in later versions, this bomber underwent continuous refinement throughout its operational lifespan to enhance its flight and combat capabilities. Notably, from 1943 onward, modifications such as increased wing area and keel size were implemented, ensuring the aircraft remained at the forefront of bomber operations until the cessation of production.

This kit features the iconic B-26B Marauder, with the last modification, the B-26B-55-MA, produced until February 1944. These formidable aircraft played a pivotal role in US bomber operations in Europe during the final stages of World War II, earning renown as one of the most illustrious American bombers of the era.

The kit includes markings for three distinguished aircraft, each with its own story to tell:

    B-26B-55MA 42-96077 "Ladies Delight", 584th Bomb Squadron, 394th Bomb Group, Summer 1944
    B-26B-55MA 42-96214 "Coral Princess III", 494th Bomb Squadron, 344th Bomb Group, 1944
B-26B-55MA 42-96165 "The Big Hairy Bird", 599th Bomb Squadron, 397th Bomb Group, July 1944
Experience the legacy of the B-26B Marauder and recreate history with our meticulously detailed kit. Whether you're a seasoned model enthusiast or a history buff, this kit offers a captivating glimpse into the heroic exploits of the brave aviators who flew these legendary aircraft.
